BuzzFest #5: Know a New Freedom

In my series of 30 Blogbuzzes, we’ve got to number 5! This time’s buzz features the blog with the quixotic title Know a New Freedom. So sit back, and enjoy the charm design of this blog. Who writes this blog? I think it is a lady called Anais, but I can’t find her name anywhere or indeed any personal information except what she’s written on the about page. Nor can I find where I got this request. Oh, well. Hoping you don’t mind!

The writer covers an array of topics that would be of interest to InvestorBlogger’s readers, including Finances, Internet, and Good Deals. Not only those, but the author goes onto write extensively about subjects close to her heart such as Addiction, Recovery, and Self-Help.

I found that the following posts were particularly interesting:

The Spending Spree: in which she writes “Once I did the bills and saw that we were going to be tight on money, I panicked a little bit inside” – I’d say if you like shopping then perhaps putting some fences around what you can spend before you go would be a good idea. Or set aside some money just to ‘splurge’ after all you need to reward yourselves for good behavior.

Slogans: I particularly enjoyed her comments: “Identify, Don’t Compare – When I’m in a situation where I find myself feeling uncomfortable, it’s easy for me to start comparing myself to others on some imagined ladder of self worth. I put myself either above or below others, when really, I need to lay the ladder down and put us all on equal ground then start looking for what we have in common.” In the financial world, it’s too easy for people to judge others by how much they have got in the bank, or at the very least, how much they appear to have.

Some good posts, that made me stop and think about things. So if you’re feeling the need for a little wisdom, hop on over to Know a New Freedom and see what she’s written today.

Finding a new host/home for your website: top10webhosting.com

As many of you know, I had to update my hosting after I was experiencing a number of problems, including slow servers, crashed websites, and so on. It’s all behind me now, and I’m glad.

But finding a new webhosting company is never easy with the thousands of competing companies and dozens of hosting review companies, too. To make matters worse, there are dozens of different types of plans all at different price points. So, when I upgraded this site, not to a full dedicated host as I don’t have the skill set to manage that, but to a virtual private host. It wasn’t important that I find the cheapest but the best hosting company in the web hosting top10.

Top10webhosting.com suggested a few options that I hadn’t thought of for virtual hosting, and if you look through the companies listed under other categories, you’ll surely find more options on the companies own websites, as I did. Also, you’ll find some interesting tips, ideas and posts on their blog.

Of the top 10 on their list, I’ve head good things about Bluehosting, LunarPages, Monster Hosting, and Hostgator, but I’ve not heard much good about Yahoo! Hosting. Do check out their reviews if you are looking for hosting, you can do feature and price comparisons before you buy. Also, don’t forget to check for money back guarantees just in case things do go belly up. I just wish they had a better looking front page… Oh, well, we can’t always judge a website by the first page, right?

How did you find your hosting company this time? Did you use a review service like this? Did you ask someone or did you just research on Google for reviews?

BuzzFEST #4: Cityslicker Mom

In my series of 30 Blogbuzzes, we’ve reached number 4! And I’m delighted to welcome City Slicker Mom to stand up and take a bow. As you can see, the graphic is quite big, bold and colorful! Sure to attract enough attention from visitors and encourage them to find out what’s going on…

cityslicker

City Slicker Mom only started blogging in May, a little over five months ago. In that time, she has already achieved a blog of PR4 which in these difficult PR times, when more prominent blogs haven’t achieved any PR is pretty amazing. I think I’m going to have take some lessons from her! So, please write an article on what you did to get PR4! There are lots of bloggers who would love to know!

Her blog covers a number of areas that are likely to prove popular such as Promote Your Blog, Mommy, Reviews, Dieting, and Success Stories. Some suggestions to think about, though these are just my opinions!

  • How about registering your own domain name? It might be difficult to give up your PR4 ranking for a new domain, but the benefits could be worthwhile, especially with Argus coming.
  • Also, be careful about using too many ‘free’ articles – you may find that they do not provide unique content at all. One article I found from your website was used on over 200 other websites.
  • Busy Your sidebars: Some of your sidebars seem uneven! The left sidebar has only a few elements, while the right sidebar is very busy. Perhaps you could balance, or remove the left one, or add Google Ads and a few more things of interest.

Looking forward to seeing how your blog progresses, and what traffic levels you can generate! If you can get a PR4, then getting better traffic shouldn’t be a problem! Good luck, and let me know how things go.
