Buzz: Depend On You – Your Blog Depends On You!

dependonmeThe first thing that strikes you when you visit DependOnYOu is the very elegant and stylish design. The blogger’s name is Amie Carey, and she uses LiveJournal for her blogging host of choice. I’m not familiar with that software, but it seems to use a lot of frames in her theme!

This blog is very much a personal blog, as the author writes a lot about her personal events, ideas, information, products and so on! I would suggest though, that she spend a little time fixing her frame on the right: it doesn’t display properly at the moment. Also some traditional blog elements seem to be missing: categories, links, … this might be a glitch, though.

Blogger’s Tip Of The Day

It’s a good idea when you do a blog, and then ask for buzzes and reviews to make sure that your blog is in tiptop shape. Traffic will come, and if there are problems, you may drive them away again! I know, I made that mistake when I got mentioned on JohnChow’s Linkbait program. I found a glitch on my blog, but I already had lost some traffic. Too late to fix the problem!

Looking forward to seeing how this blog matures as the blogger discovers much more about the blogging process! I am learning a lot now as I blog! Good luck, Amie!

PHP: Cheesecake Photoblog Software

I found this rather interesting alternative to Gallery and Coppermine! I’m going to try it out! Naturally, my fondness for things with cream cheese drew my attention immediately to this PhotoBlog software, called Cheesecake Photoblog Software.

I had a look at the Demo of the software and was attracted by its simplicity. It really puts the photography up front, and nearly eliminates all the wordage that goes along with photography based websites! I liked that emphasis. I know that other softwares can do this too, but there is something elegant about this appearance.

Let me test it, and you all take a look. Requirements are modest, most Linux based servers should already use the LAMP (Linux Apache Mysql Php) , so installation shouldn’t be difficult. If you’re using MS products, try another PhotoBlog App. This one’s not for you. I’ll be giving it a try… Will report back.

TraderMatch: where traders meet their match!

tradermatchYou’ve all seen them on TV or heard them on the radio. Perhaps you’ve even visited their websites! Those stocks the analysts recommended last year – did they actually make money or lose money? Who knows? Who cares? It’s always today’s stock picks that are going to make money! Let’s not worry about such things as track records. Analyst A had a bad year! Let’s make money on today’s stock picks! Cramer, where are you?

Not so. Finally, I found a website called Tradermatch that really does track stock pickers track records. You can sign upto this forum, and create and track recommendations, portfolios and returns. This website will help you find and track real performance and sort the wheat from the chaff! I’m off to sign up and will write a review of the website as soon as I know what to say!
