Out with Kodak, In with Lumix

I have already done my Christmas shopping for myself . 😀

I recently lost my Kodak Camera C360 with batteries and New 2GB SD ram card… so with the holidays approaching, and no way to take pictures for my family or my blog readers or for my students, I was faced with a difficult choice: keep looking or give up and buy a new one!

Today, I’m announcing that for me Christmas has come early : with my purchase of a Panasonic Lumix DMC. I’d have used a Panasonic coupon code to buy one from CouponChief.com, but I was dumb. I didn’t really think about doing that. Instead I ran out to the store, asked an attendant who wasn’t so well informed, didn’t manage to get extra batteries, either; and didn’t get a discount!

Instead, I could have got a FREE SDRam card with 256MB or 512MB of space for those shots. Or I could have checked out the Sony Store with the Sony deals and got upto 15% off some deals on their camera products.

Consider that I paid nearly $300 for my camera, either of these deals would have been quite sweet. In one case, I might have saved nearly $45 for use on other presents! So, if you are a cautious spender at Christmas, then checking out CouponChief before swiping might be a good way to ease your Christmas burden, find good presents, and all without leaving your computer!

BuzzFEST #2: 33 is the new 23 – From wife carrying contests to digi-cams to Beckham!

Well, I don’t quite get the title, but perhaps that’s because I’m not 23 or 33! Jerry has volunteered to be #3 in this month’s buzz your BlogFest. His blog focuses a lot on the outdoor life, esp. with his interest in sports, skiing and is well worth skimming through. Here are some of the posts I found and enjoyed especially:

33-23

Couple of suggestions for Jerry: Do consider the visual aspect of your blog and how that will impact your readers. This will affect how long people stay on your blog:

  1. Do please consider changing your theme and make it more distinctive;

  2. don’t put light colored text against a dark background (It doesn’t make for easy reading);

  3. and your sidebar has more than 25 individual elements in it, trim that number, if you can!

  4. Do consider trimming the sheer number of posts on the front page, I stopped counting when I got past fifteen posts. Most people place a maximum of ten posts on the front page.

Hope you find these suggestions useful. Overall, I like the bold pictures that you include from time to time, and, though I’m not a football fan, I was intrigued to read about David Beckham’s career. That was interesting how you put paid to the notion that Beckham was all washed up in soccer! I’m always the optimist but I was puzzled about Beckham’s career move.

BuzzFEST #3: State of Confusion, not a Kink in sight!

It seems that I go the order inverted! #3 is going to appear before #2!

Still, here we go with #3 in my series of buzz blog type posts. The blog “State of Confusion” written by Natalie is the third candidate, and when I went to her blog, I found that a large brightly colored lady caught my attention. Very colorful! I wonder if she chose the name because of the Kinks’ album and song of the same name.

stateofconfusion

She’s calling herself a “stay at home mommy” blogger! But her blog really takes her place, even though she can’t get out so much at the moment! Her blog covers a range of topics including

Rough Night and BBQ chicken “recipe”; 10,000 Steps and her exercise and diet program; and My Love of Baseball.

I usually like to link to individual posts but I couldn’t because of the limitations of her choice of theme in BlogSpot. I also found it difficult to find any posts on particular themes or ‘categories’. Nor did Natalie use ‘tagging’ to help readers find what they were looking for.

It’s a good blog, but I’d strongly suggest that you look to including tags or categories and make it easier for people (your readers) to find their way around.

Keep writing, and perhaps one day we’ll be able to have BBQ Chicken together! That’d be nice.

If you’d like a blogbuzz for your blog, just visit the homepage, link to the blog as described and DROP ME A NOTE telling me that you’re ready! And if you’re interested, do check out the blogs and see what they’re saying! They’re linked at the bottom!
