Backgammon: Odds on it could be your favorite game!

Clipboard01Backgammon is one of those wonderful games that I learned to play from a longtime friend at University. I had never heard of this game, but from the moment I learned to play it, I was hooked. My friend, Glenn, didn’t tell me about the aspects of gambling such as scoring and gambling in backgammon, though. I had to learn them later!

Now, Investors, why am I writing about the backgammon game? Well, partly because backgammon is a game of odds. You are required to calculate odds through out the game, the odds of hitting blots, or being hit, and so on, as the entire movement is controlled by two dice.

240px-Backgammon lgThough the addition of a doubling cube in the 1920’s increased the gambling aspect of the game, it forces players to make choices earlier in the game on the likelihood of winning that game. Also, I suspect, it changes the psychology of the game.

One of the aspects of playing backgammon is that you get a chance to play with people, and, much like Poker, that psychological aspect of the game can become quite important if you are playing high stakes. Despite certain aspects of psychology being absent in the online market, it seems that the BackgammonMasters.com online game company is still finding it easy to develop new markets in Latin America, as it expands its repertoire of games for these markets.

Naturally, to serve these markets better BackgammonMasters.com has now opened branch offices in Central America. According to BackgammonMasters.com, even more games targeting the Latin American market are in the offing.

So, investors, if you are needing a little practice assessing odds for projects, backgammon could easily provide you with a little practice in these areas.

Buzz: MomReviews.net – essential for busy mothers

bloggermom-net

My recent promotion has brought forth some wonderful sites to buzz. The latest is Momreviews.net is a wonderful site with a tremendous amount of potential, really. Elizabeth’s focus on providing books, products and other essential items for busy Moms. Elizabeth’s working hard on creating a comfortable environment for her readers, with lighter, gentler colors. I’d like to see some more pictures of typical reader-types, to help make the blog feel human and personal. I think that’d increase her stickiness. It’s also something I’m trying to do here, too.

In fact, Elizabeth’s also as good as her word. I just checked the status of visitors to this blog from Momreviews.net: since last Saturday, she’s given me more than a 18 hits to this website! Thanks, Elizabeth! I’ll be asking her to check back regularly and tell us how her websites are doing!

Buzz: Depend On You – Your Blog Depends On You!

dependonmeThe first thing that strikes you when you visit DependOnYOu is the very elegant and stylish design. The blogger’s name is Amie Carey, and she uses LiveJournal for her blogging host of choice. I’m not familiar with that software, but it seems to use a lot of frames in her theme!

This blog is very much a personal blog, as the author writes a lot about her personal events, ideas, information, products and so on! I would suggest though, that she spend a little time fixing her frame on the right: it doesn’t display properly at the moment. Also some traditional blog elements seem to be missing: categories, links, … this might be a glitch, though.

Blogger’s Tip Of The Day

It’s a good idea when you do a blog, and then ask for buzzes and reviews to make sure that your blog is in tiptop shape. Traffic will come, and if there are problems, you may drive them away again! I know, I made that mistake when I got mentioned on JohnChow’s Linkbait program. I found a glitch on my blog, but I already had lost some traffic. Too late to fix the problem!

Looking forward to seeing how this blog matures as the blogger discovers much more about the blogging process! I am learning a lot now as I blog! Good luck, Amie!
