Buzz: don’t be an idiot – simple and neat!

idiot

Some websites really catch your attention! And this is one of them!

If you are wondering what all this is about, you can click on the image!

The idea is quite simple, if you know someone is being a real jack-ass, you simply let them visit this website!

Of course, it assumes that such a person has some self-awareness… there are people who wouldn’t know what the ‘hint’ was… And they’d act all surprised when you tell them!

So if your colleagues, friends, family or acquaintances are being stupid, this is the one for you to send!

Personally speaking, I’d be sending this to all the drivers I passed today:

who thought it was cool to overtake in the motorcycle lane,
who flashed their lights or tooted horns just to pass the car in front;
who tailgated,
who threw garbage out of the car window,
who ran red lights,
and (especially the driver on the highway between Tamsui and SanChih in a Ford Explorer with a sunroof) who thought it was cool to drive with his two kids hanging out of the top of the sunroof!

If you were one of those drivers, take yourself to this website now.

Sunday Recreation: Online Scrabulous

As a member of facebook, I’ve been having fun installing and trying out some of the new applications you can add. My favorite at the moment has to be Scrabulous. So if you are looking for a quite Sunday game, look me up on FaceBook, and invite me to a game.

The dictionary’s a little odd, as it disallowed some words that are correct, but anyway I can live with it. The application allows you to play the game over several days or weeks, and the controls are quite self-explanatory. So, log in, install the application, and invite me to a game!

Buzz: It’s the Thoof, the whole Thoof, and nothing but the Thoof!

To create a little buzz for its personalized news, Thoof.com is running a little bloggers competition to enhance its reputation and for some fun! Thoof.com is a newish website that is trying to create an easier way to submit and popularize interesting stories. But it’s got a much more interesting name than any of the others… Well, in an effort to create a little folklore for the name… this is my attempt!

‘Thoof’ is a corruption of the early Germanic word for truth (nowadays: the word “Wahrheit” is used because references to Thoof were believed to have magical power because of the divine nature of Thoof himself).

Due to indigenous influences of an early non-indo-european tongue spoken in the north east coast of Scotland. The derivation of the word comes from the ancient Norse God, “Thoof”, who was believed to be able to divine all truth from falsehood. Now, Thoof was actually the son of Brono who it is claimed was the god of daylight and the son of Baldr.

Unfortunately, before he could prove himself as the bringer of daylight and lay all things bare under the penetrating rays of the Sun God, he was cursed by Loki (a god of mischief) to speak with difficulty and mispronounce basic sounds as a way to blunt his sharp words. Forever, he would be doomed to speak the truth only to be misunderstood by all around him. No one listened to him.

And so, eventually, Thoof.com, realizing how unfairly the divine being Thoof was treated by Loki, seeks to recreate the role of bringer of truth. The ThoofRank Badge is a reminder of this sacred role.

That’s the god honest thoof!
