Interesting Reading? I hope so!

Some interesting reading from postings I had intended to write about but they ended up as stubs in my drafts folder! So I thought I must have liked them, so here they are lumped together!

Internet Duct Tape presents an overview for the month of May. Worth reading. You can find it at Engtech – internet duct tape, including the decision to break up with Technorati.

In Yield Of Dreams! | Dividend Money, you can read about how to find ever-increasing dividends that provide income, and perhaps even capital growth!

I still don’t know what a Money merge account is… Anyone care to explain!?

Blueprint for Financial Prosperity explores and writes about his Neighbors Selling Their Homes and examines how much a house is worth. While Free Money Finance writes about how “there are Almost 1 Million Accidental Millionaires in the US.” Really? Can I be one? Wonder if they all used Money Merge Accounts?

Lastly, Jane May wonders why people drop out of blogging. I haven’t dropped out yet, and I’ve been blogging fairly consistently since September 1st, 2006… Can I keep it up? Well, you’ll have to subscribe to my feed or drop back to find out!

Supplementals Hell: Getting Rid of Multiple Categories

If you have already fallen victim to Google’s Supplementals Hell, you’ll be scratching your head wondering how to get out of the trap!

Well, when I found out that Google not only scans the main page of your blog, but also the archives, the categories, etc.. and naturally it finds a lot of pages or posts that are the same or surprisingly similar! One easy solution is to cut the number of categories that you put your posts in! I used to publish my posts in 2 or even 3 categories, but of course this would simply increase the number of duplicates found by Google! So now one post – one category! Of course, what do you do with nearly 500 back posts, most of which are double or triple categoried! Well, you have to go back and clean up the mess! And you can use the plugin Post Control to change categories for upto 50 posts a page ! Not so difficult, either.

You may also wish to remove other ways that you can find your posts, such as changing the  permalinks, not allowing posts to be found by date views as well! Keep experimenting! I’m busy doing this, but still no significant change on the Supplementals for me! Still nearly 50% are in the supplementals!

iTWire – Palm Foleo flop or future?

foleo

Apparently, Palm has done it again! It’s broken the mold, with a new sub-notebook computer that even John Chow could find useful on his trip to Taipei! It pairs up with your handheld to offer (cough!) convenient and portable computing (cough!)… There’s really not much information about this machine at all, I can’t find much about the actual specs either other than it runs Linux, has some editors for Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus a PDF viewer. It comes with a 10-inch screen and full-size keyboard. And it sports upto five hours of battery life in its compact design!

There are some pretty useful features for mobile computing that we’d need on it so it includes “Instant on, instant off”, it’s light, and sports an OpenSource OS! No word on the chips, processor, RAM or onboard storage yet! I’d have to add that quality of the build is very important as Palm has screwed up majorly on several previous models of its handheld series with component problems and surly service. Let’s hope that they get this one right!

You can read more about it at these stories: Palm Foleo flop or future? or at Palm’s website.
