Welcome to the first Issue of the Carnival of Making Real Money for 2008, and the sixth overall! Before I go on, I was advised that this Carnival is being featured on Blog Carnival’s website on Thursday, January 3rd.

Denise from BlogCarnival wrote:

“Dear IB, Just wanted to let you know that we’ve chosen carnival of making real money to be our featured carnival on Thursday, January 3rd. You’ll see it splashed on our homepage all day.

We recently added featured carnivals to highlight and acknowledge carnivals we really like. Congratulations!

Regards, Denise”

So I’m definitely hoping that this edition will be better than the previous ones. That’s great news, and I’m sure it will help bring more submissions! Thanks to the writers who helped to get it mentioned!

This edition was a lot of work, as we had over 53 entries, but when I went to the Carnival website there were only 15 entries! So I had to enter the following entries by hand in this page.As usual, I’ve pruned the entries, and I’ve left the best 17 of the articles. I’ve also included some recommended articles to show which articles I consider are really well written and interesting.

Recommended Articles

FIRE Finance presents Our 7 Mutual Fund Investing Mistakes! posted at FIRE Finance. This article has some great subheadings! Some of the advice would also apply to almost every asset class. (Recommended)

Dan Johnson presents How to Automate Your Savings with a Credit Card posted at Credit Cards That Pay which outlines a technique that I was unaware of. This could really start some good savings habits! (Recommended)

Additional Notes on Submitting Articles

Please note, though, that the terms of the Carnival have changed slightly. If you have any questions, just see the most recent Carnival for what’s accepted. So hurry… get your submissions in!

  • your article must be original and previously unpublished in this carnival. One article per person/blog only. I like to maintain variety of sources and topics. Additional articles may be resubmitted in the next edition. Multiple submissions to the same blog will be deleted, possibly including the first instance. So submit ONE article from one blog once only.
  • no spam or articles that are pitching something for sale. This is not an advertising carnival. Your article MAY, however, include links as you wish…
  • Please make sure that you aren’t posting irrelevant articles! Or if you think it’s relevant, or off-beat, highlight its relevance to this carnival.
  • I’m definitely looking for articles that are readable, inspiring, and well-written for readers who may or may not have much investing or financial knowledge.
  • All editorial decisions are final. I will not answer questions about why a particular article was or was not included. If you didn’t get in, submit again for the next issue.

It would be nice if you acknowledge the blog carnival somewhere on your website… Anywhere, it doesn’t matter: in a post, in the post you submitted, in the blogroll, … etc.. or you can do a separate post when the post is published. This helps to drive traffic to the carnival, where people can find your posts!

Best Wishes
